World Youth Day

In August the Catholic church is having their bi-annual World Youth Day in Köln. Because it seemed like a good opportunity to meet spiritually interested young people, I registered as a volunteer (there will also be a lot of Protestants and, of course, non-believers participating as well). Before the London attacks 800.000 people were expected to flood the city for the 10 days of the event. So many people are expected to come, that the city has done what, for Germans, is an amazing thing. They are putting FREE water stations around the city. Will wonders never cease :)? I wonder if fear of terrorism might keep some people away, however.

It is amusing to me that, although I registered my primary language as English, I keep getting volunteer updates in German. With my level of German skills at the moment, I feel as though my service to the event has already begun. I've spent significant time translating letters, web pages, et. to keep informed. It would probably be good practice if I didn't rely so heavily on translation software :).

Hi Brandi- I'm enjoying my visit in Germany via Brandi de. Where are the others you came with? Would you like to visit Gentlehands via blogger? Time is fleeting. Hope your days will be fruitful. Love, Gerry-B

Welcome to the world of blogging! The rest of the Riverview group went back to the States after 10 days. I've heard from many of them, and they seem to be doing well.

I would just like to say if translation software wasn't a good thing. God wouldn't have let us invent it. :-) I'm a big fan of translation anything. :-D I'm glad to hear everything in Germany is going well for you!
