Torn

Mood: very encouraged
Stage notes: eyes bluring. . .I need to go to sleep in a few minutes :)

The tension between my desire to be a good student and my desire to share my faith came into focus today. Halfway through the school day I received a text message on my phone. It was from some women that I have been working on building a relationship with. They wanted to know if I had time to go to the zoo with them and an exchange student. After a quick moment of prayer, I decided that the opportunity was too good to pass up. I excused myself from class during the mid-day break and headed for the zoo.

The zoo was was very nice. It had several animals that I was unfamiliar with, as well as some 'exotic' species like racoons, vultures, prarie dogs, and otters. I especially enjoyed their primate house. There were about 15 different animal types there, and along the ceiling there were wire cages that formed a labarinth. The primates were able to intermingle with one another in this system of wire tunnels that even led outside and through a portion of the park. Besides being a lot of fun, the trip allowed me to lay a firmer groundwork with one of the women that I have not been able to get to know as well. She invited me to go swimming with her later this week.

After the zoo, I met an acquaintance from Shamrock. We had a very good conversation for several hours, and afterwards he asked if I would like to get together again next week. It was an encouraging time, and I am looking forward to talking again.

Prayer request: Wisdom to know when to study and when to spend time with people. I'm not sure how to balance being a good steward of my time, energy, and financial resources here.
