1) All of your Yahoo! mail Ads are in German, and it seems like they really want you to join a German dating service
2) A thick layer of butter WILL be on your salami and sweet pickle sandwich (In fact, butter is a primary food group)
3) A squeegee hangs in the shower and you use it to wipe down the doors each morning
4) Grocery shopping 3-4 times per week is normal (and you don't mind walking there with your own bags and paying for a shopping cart)
5) Parking on the sidewalk is acceptable
6) If there are other people around, you actually stop when the light says don't walk (even if there are no cars visible)
7) Ice is not offered in your drink, refills are not free, and it is not uncommon for people to think that cold beverages are unhealthy
8) The most widely read paper (EXPRESS) has a topless woman on the front page every day, and each morning you sit across from a senior citizen on the train who is reading it
9) Milk comes in a box and does not need to be refrigerated until opened
10) Most young people know more about American music, movies, and pop culture than you do

1. Well, that would be one way to meet people... ;)
2. Ugh. (The sandwich alone merits an "ugh," let alone the butter.)
5. Yeah, I noticed. Parking anywhere appears to be acceptable.
7. One of my least favorite things about Europe.
9. Interesting...
10. *snort* Yep, that'll be me this winter when I start teaching.
11) There is no air conditioning...anywhere...
12)I believe I paid for water in the restaurants as well.
13) Americans stand out...I mean, stick out...but why? The way we dress, speak, and carry ourselves. Germans walk different. I can't explain it. Not a bad thing...just different.
14) Everyone wears racing shoes which are not comfortable (I know--I tried them on).
15) Germans seem to be ahead of us in fashion. When I wear the few things I purchased there, people always comment, "I love your shirt! It is so...euro!"
I'm sure there are more but I'll stop now. Oh, but before I do, I wanted to comment on the butter. Butter isn't just butter over there. It comes in all these different flavors. I remember the tomato and paprika. I'm with Sally on that one.
Praying for you, Brandi...every night...which would be morning for you so maybe you might suddenly feel encouraged without knowing why :)

Germans carrying knives to school to cut grapefruits packed for lunch. Then they wonder why they are not allowed to carry a knife to an American school to cut a grapefruit. I had to tell her "no weapons allowed"
