Mood: tired
Stage notes: the internet cafe I'm using has the door open and I'm shivering
As I was working my way down a long list of things to do today, I realized that I was really tired. In response I decided to relax for an hour or so at the Public library. I thought that I might be able to find a map of Berlin there, and perhaps make a list of things to see. On the way to the travel section I inadvertantly passed some English language books. One of them caught my eye and I ended up reading 530 pages in a single gulp. I'm so starved for literature that I did not even care that the book was no more than a carbon copy of 100 other spy novels. In fact, after I had finished it, I started scanning the shelves for something else to read. Unfortunately (or perhaps not) I did not see anything else that even remotely piqued my interests.
Later in the evening a friend from school dropped by unexpectedly. What was supposed to be a brief hello ended up being quite a long conversation over tea and biscuits. I had thought that I really wanted to be alone, but it ended up being very nice that they stopped in. It was the first time I have been able to play host at a place of my own. It reminded me how much I like to play the role of hostess.
In case you are thinking that my day was totally wasted, I would like to note that I learned 100 new words by making flashcards and writing a sentence for each of them :). Who would have guessed that following God would put me in the position of being a student again?

Brandi de - We understand your pain with the whole "reading something in English thing" here. In Honduras there really aren't many bookstores at all. There is a small one in a local mall, but of course it has very few books in English. We brought down a few books with us since we didn't know if we were going to have a T.V. or not (but we do, with about 80 cable channels). I'm reading Dostoyevsky's Brothers Karamazov right now - a new translation that reads really well! I highly recommend it if you haven't "gulped" that one down yet!
