A plain clothed police officer 'raided' my S-Bahn on the way to school today. In Germany, buying public transportation tickets is mainly on the honor system. Once in a while, however, someone dressed in regular clothing gets onto your train. After the doors close and you can't get off, they check to see if everyone has the appropriate ticket. If you don't, you have to pay a 30 EUR fine on the spot.
My other police experience of the day came in the form of a plain clothed officer standing in the window of the CDC hallway on the floor where I have class. He had binoculars and was clearly doing surveillance of someone in the park across the street. Feels like an episode of Law and Order.
