Here is a sampling of things I experienced in the city this Saturday:
-Vespers in a centuries-old cathedral. Monks in coarse brown cowls snaked through the pews, singing ancient hymns in German and Latin. Smouldering incense poured from an opulent censer that swung hypnotically from a metal chain held at chest height by a priest. There were only a handful of spectators, all with white hair and frail skin, to appreciate the subdued pagent.
-several tons of snow piled in the middle of a main shopping street with no explaination
-a man making 20ft. reproductions of famous artworks in chalk on the plaza in front of the Dom
-a Chinese woman chained in a wooden crate to protest the persecution of Falun Gong in China, she was surrounded by a group of Chinese tourists who were shouting at her
-several women in full burquas (including gloves) walking past a strip club
-a group of South American men playing wooden pipes
-a man playing an upbeat piece on a french horn. He stood obliviously next to a begger whose eyes painted a picture of death as he squatted on the cobble stones. I walked past without even slowing my pace.
-about 100 Turks protesting something, I have no idea what

Sounds like a wonderful mixture...the snow sounds really nice right now, as it's in the 90s here. :)
ps As always, praying!
