Communion

Last night a group of perhaps 25 people met at the Bonnets for house church. Normally just the Bonnet, Goering, and Simmons families come here for fellowship on Saturday nights, but this week a group of high-school and college students from Texas joined us.

Last night we shared bread and wine with one another in remembrance of Christ's sacrifice for us. One slight difference from taking communion at Riverview is that here we actually drink wine, and it is served from a single glass whether there are four people or fifty. Although the details are a little different, the heart of the practice is the same, and it was good for me to focus on God in this way. I feel as though it is a constant struggle to keep Christ at the center of my life not only in my thoughts and actions, but also at a deeper heart level. In some way that I do not know how to explain, communion helps me to do this.
