Einschulung (1st day of school)

You might recall that for my first day of language school I received a Schultüte. This cone filled with presents is traditionally given to children when they begin first grade. This week relatives and friends of the Bonnet's joined them in celebrating Jonathan's special day. As you can see, Jonathan got a really cool cone with a window so he could see a bit of what is inside. Usually kids must wait until the end of the day to open their cone, so this was a great sneak preview for him.

That's such a cool tradition! Are they bought pre-made (like some Easter baskets in the US) or do the families make them themselves?

*hugs*

This one is homemade. Heike (Jonathan's mom) had the same one for her 1st day of school. Heike's mom just changed some of the design on the outside to make it special for Jonathan.
