I'm back

Mind: processing life, a little bit weary
Stage: standard night noises of a sleeping household

Sorry for such a long period of silence. I anticipated having more opportunities to write while the Riverview team was here in Köln. Take the lack of communication as a sign that God answered our prayers and was doing a lot with our time here. I would like to write about our trip, but that will have to come later. For the moment I will just recap my day before I head off to bed. Tomorrow is the first day of language school and I need to get up a bit early to figure out the transporation details.

Today I was able to meet many people from my new church family. Although I was only able to speak with a handful (because of the language barrier), their care for one another required no translation. They gathered at a children's amusement park called Centroland for a day filled with bratwurst and rides. It was nice to have a chance to interact with the Bonnets a bit. The team has had such a busy week that time with them has not been easy to find. I enjoyed riding on the ferris wheel and Achtbahn (try to guess what that is), 'panning for gold', eating ice cream and jumping with the Bonnet girls on a giant trampoline.

Martin asked me to share my testimony at church next week, so I would appreciate if you could pray that I share my faith story in a way that is cross-culturally understandable and appropriate. Also, that I would be faithful in following up contacts that I make here and in being a good student.
