Going Away Party

Mood: Busy
Stage Notes: Sitting on a bare mattress listening to children in the park.

I'm finally done packing! Yesterday was my last day at Sparrow. My co-workers had a potluck for me. The food was great and I appreciated the opportunity to say goodbye to everyone. People chipped in to give me an extra large memory card for my digital camera, which will be nice for taking pictures in Cologne. It was also nice that throughout the day many of the people who were not scheduled to work either came in or called to wish me luck. I was surprised to find that several of them had also taken the time to send me cards in the mail. It made me feel good to see that even though I keep my work and private life separate, my co-workers still felt connection with me.

Today I was able to spend time with the Brett's. It was strange to think of being away from them for such an extended time. The kids change so rapidly that I expect to notice a lot of growth in them (physically and socially) by the time I return. Much of my time at Riverview has been measured in terms of my interactions with their family, and I'm glad that I was able to see them once more.

I meant to write sooner but time has a way of getting away from you as you grown older. Hope you have a safe journey to Germany. I'll be praying that the plane stays in the air until it is time to coem down. love, Aunt Gerry
